I’ve reviewed and talked about several games made by Tecmo Koei within the past year or so (my review of the Japanese release of Samurai Warriors 3 predates the creation of this site). With that in mind, it seems appropriate that the company will be the first one to officially provide Game Bushido with review copies!
Indeed, I’ve had the joy of discussing with a very helpful PR from Tecmo Koei (whom I wish to thank for putting up with all my emails!) The result is that a few of their games are making their way to GB for... Read More »
At the time of this writing, Japan was hit by an enormous earthquake mere hours ago and is currently dealing with a severe tsunami as a result. From what I hear, the earthquake reached a magnitude of 8.9 on the Richter scale and is the fifth most powerful one to have taken place ever since we have started recording them. Regarding the tsunami, waves are said to reach heights of 10 meters in certain areas; entire cities have been engulfed. What’s more, at least thirteen aftershocks have occurred since. As for casualties, numbers are still unclear and it’s still... Read More »
Ah, good old Gradius! It… Um… Alright, I have something to confess. I cheated. That’s right, I cheated to beat this game, and I’m not even talking about using the Konami Code! You see, the above picture may be the first screen you’ll see upon starting the game, but this following screen is the one you’ll be seeing the most:
See that? See where it says “GAME OVER”? Yeah. That was on the first damn level. Gradius kicked my ass because that’s just what it does, it kicks people’s collective... Read More »
Remember back when Disney used to produce great animated shows, before they started crapping out all those tweens and poor excuses for entertainment? Back in the late 80′s to the mid-90′s, a ton of Disney shows came out, most of which were pretty good, and DuckTales was one of the best of the bunch. Well, it turns out that during that period of time, Capcom also made a bunch of great games based on Disney properties, including this one!... Read More »
Today, I’ve gone through another game in preparation for part 2 of my NES Retrospective. Without further adieu, Mega Man 2!
Mega Man 2 is another game that any self-respecting NES enthusiast would call a classic. Actually, that really stands for the entirety of the 8-bit Mega Man series, which comprises 6 main games on NES, so why choose number 2 specifically? There’s little question that it’s the most popular of the bunch, but that’s completely unrelated. You see, while it doesn’t have the privilege of being the first in the series and lacks the technical advances present in... Read More »
18 October 2010 marked the 25th anniversary of the Nintendo Entertainment System! As celebration, here is the first part of my NES retrospective: 25 days, one NES-related article per day!
When you think NES, the first game that comes to your mind is most likely the original Super Mario Bros., so what better game to start with to celebrate?
Ahh… What is there to say about Super Mario Bros.? You know this game. You just do. If you don’t… Fuck it, you do.
I should mention right now that these NES-themed articles won’t have a specific format; they’re more... Read More »
