You’ve likely heard rumors regarding Nintendo’s next home console; after all, analysts have been predicting a “Wii HD” or “Wii 2” at least once a year, and practically since the original system’s release. I guess it just goes to show that the most vocal so-called analysts also turn out to be those who know the least, heh. The latest rumors had been gaining a lot of steam though, what with various (mostly anonymous) studios claiming to have development kits in possession. Guess what? Re: Wii’s successor system
Nintendo Co., Ltd. has decided to launch in 2012 a system to succeed Wii, which the company has sold 86.01 million units on a consolidated shipment basis between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.
We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles.
Sales of this new system have not been included in the financial forecasts announced today for the fiscal term ending March 2012.
So there you have it! Word of this news is probably going to spread fast, but at least it’s looking legit this time around. Now to find out exactly what we can expect from this new console!
