Ah, good old Gradius! It… Um… Alright, I have something to confess. I cheated. That’s right, I cheated to beat this game, and I’m not even talking about using the Konami Code! You see, the above picture may be the first screen you’ll see upon starting the game, but this following screen is the one you’ll be seeing the most:
See that? See where it says “GAME OVER”? Yeah. That was on the first damn level. Gradius kicked my ass because that’s just what it does, it kicks people’s collective

Back in the late 80′s to the mid-90′s, a ton of Disney shows came out, most of which were pretty good, and DuckTales was one of the best of the bunch. Well, it turns out that during that period of time, Capcom also made a bunch of great games based on Disney properties, including this one!
The Nintendo DS, circa 1989. My bottle of Frank's RedHot sauce is probably more technologically advanced than that.
Today, I’ve gone through another game in preparation for part 2 of my NES Retrospective. Without further adieu, Mega Man 2!
Mega Man 2 is another game that any self-respecting NES enthusiast would call a classic. Actually, that really stands for the entirety of the 8-bit Mega Man series, which comprises 6 main games on NES, so why choose number 2 specifically? When you think NES, the first game that comes to your mind is most likely the original Super Mario Bros., so what better game to start with to celebrate?
Ahh… What is there to say about Super Mario Bros.? You know this game. You just do. If you don’t… Fuck it, you do.
I should mention right now that these NES-themed articles won’t have a specific format; they’re more

Anyways, back on subject. When I moved from my home town in Quebec to Calgary in Alberta, my beloved got me a cellphone at the closest Futureshop (there’s something like 5 or so in the city). The Motorola K1m, also known by its edgier name of K-RAZR (pronounced Krazor), I quickly found out

... Read More »Said decade of FPS Metroid was excellent because those games managed to perfectly capture the Metroid spirit despite the complete change of perspective and controls. While there’s no doubt in my mind that Team Ninja deserves some credit for trying a new approach to the series, they certainly didn’t capture the Metroid spirit nearly as well as they could have, despite Other M’s perspective essentially
The following is an excerpt from a conversation in which I explained why Sonic 3 & Knuckles was my favorite game in the original Sonic the Hedgehog games.
... Read More »S3&K is my favorite and you can suck it. See, I actually played Sonic 1 back in 1991, then Sonic 2, then 3 and then S&K, culminating in the fusion of S3&K; because of that, I enjoyed the growth of the series as it happened, and in that context, “more of the same” was exactly what I wanted.
I was actually playing Sonic 1 just recently and my girlfriend made an
